Home Alone class planned for Fairmont kids

Fairmont Area Schools offers learning opportunities for the young and old alike, and one of its classes will give kids the skills, knowledge, and confidence they may need to be at home on their own.

Kids from grades two and up are encouraged to take part in the Home Alone workshop running in June. The registration fee is $31.00, and the final date to submit a request to attend is June 4.

Attendees in the class will learn to be safe when they are on their own, whether it be after school for a few minutes or for a day during the summertime. Safe habits, the importance of following the “house rules,” fire and severe weather safety, and how to handle unexpected situations will all be discussed along with other topics. The basics of first aid are also on the agenda at this drop-off activity.

To help keep the discussion about safety going, registrants will each be supplied with additional learning materials to take home with them. Organizers may choose to supply the attendees in an event with Notebooks and promotional Pens so they can easily jot down any point they wish to remember.

The Home Alone class will be running on Wednesday, June 11, starting at 12:30 pm. The Southern MN Educational Campus will be the location for the afternoon.
