Fairmont’s dog families who would like to teach Fido how to be his best can benefit from a local workshop.
Over a course of seven sessions, the Basic Dog Manners workshops will be on offer in the South Gym at Fairmont Jr./Sr. High School. A fee of $65 is being charged per dog.
The series will open with a “people only” session where everyone is reminded to bring a six-foot leather leash and to leave their dog at home. After this, they will gain hands-on practice with commands such as “sit down,” “heel,” “stand,” and “leave it,” as well as recalls.
The classes are best suited to dogs that are at least four months old and the final date to sign up is June 9. Participants must be at least 12 years of age, and anyone 16 and under will need to attend with an adult.
Activities planned for people and their companion animals can be fun and useful for both, and a poster printing company will be pleased to help spread the word. It can help the public in an area to keep abreast of what is going on and make their plans accordingly.
Fairmont Area Schools will run these canine-focused classes on Tuesdays starting on June 16. Each installment will run for one hour, and everyone is asked to enter the venue through door #5.
