Fairmont opens fall with disposal day

As Fairmont heads into another fall, its residents will be able to kick off the season by properly disposing of their household waste.

The Martin County Highway Department has scheduled its fall Clean Up Day. It will include several different waste collection streams, and the charge being levied will depend on what is being dropped off.

The function will be accepting household hazardous waste such as fuels, degreasers, rechargeable batteries, cleaners, paint thinners, garden products and more. Electronics and appliances will be accepted for a fee of $15.00 per item, and a charge starting at $3.00 will be applied. Large furniture items may also be brought, and the fee for their disposal will be $15.00 each. Those interested may be able to use any Fairmont City Wide coupons they have, and everyone is asked to enter the drop-off area at Winnebago Avenue.

Hosting a waste drop off day can help a community ensure that these items are disposed of properly. A brochure printing company can prepare a variety of items to send out to local households to keep them informed of local activities that may be of interest to them.

September 12th will be the next Martin County and Fairmont City Wide Clean Up Day, and it will take place at 1200 Marcus Street in Fairmont. It will run from 9:00 am until 12:00 pm.
