What's Happening in Fairmont, MN…

Fairmont workshop introduces watercolor techniques

Winter in Fairmont can be well suited to indoor activities, and one in early 2026 will introduce the art of working with watercolor paints.

The Community Room of the Southern MN Educational Campus will be the venue for a two-hour evening class that will open the new year. Everyone who registers has been asked to enter the building through door #1.

The workshop, which is intended for the beginner, will teach the basics of watercolor painting by creating a winter scene. Various techniques will be taught, and while the materials needed will be supplied, those who sign up are free to bring their own if they wish. A list has been provided of what to bring. To help them develop their skills, participants will get in some practice painting on scrap paper before moving on to the real thing.

Providing a learning environment that is relaxed and social can make picking up a new skill a lot more fun. Event organizers can order copies of handouts to distribute, as well as any other custom materials they require, from a local printing services provider.

Fairmont’s Winter Blues Watercolor Class will be on offer on Thursday, January 8, 2026. It will begin at 6:30 pm sharp and continue until 8:30 pm, and registrations will be accepted until January 5. The fee for the activity is $35 per person.
