Careers in the technical field are on the grow, and a Fairmont learning opportunity will help local residents take full advantage of this station.
Fairmont Area Schools explained that Minnesota manufacturers have a high demand for skilled workers, and it will soon be running a course that teaches the fundamentals of welding. This 12-week course will offer 60 hours of instruction, and the attendance will be capped at 20 learners.
The course will be focused on the use of Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW/MIG) equipment and joint work in horizontal, vertical and flat positions are all on the agenda. Current Fairmont High School students will be given registration priority and free tuition, and a fee of $400.00 is being charged for out of district learners and adults. Fraction work, Tape measure reading and Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW/STICK) are on the syllabus.
A course or learning focused activity may require textbooks and educational materials prepared by a printer that can perform specialized printing services such as binding. These can be accessed from a local professional, which can offer comb binding and other options.
This introduction to welding is set to begin on January 10th. The final date to register is January 3rd, and it will be held at Fairmont Junior/Senior High School. The final class will take place on March 28th.
