Fairmont venue organizes Threshing Day celebration

Before the advent of threshing machinery, grain was threshed by hand using flails and other farm implements. A Fairmont celebration will hark back to those days gone by.

Heritage Acres Threshing Day will be marking 50 years of paying tribute to the area’s agricultural history. A family-friendly occasion, it will run throughout its scheduled date, and admission to the festivities will be free.

The plans for the day will see la variety of historical displays that show just how labor intensive farming was in the past, even after the advent of threshing machinery. A morning flag raising is in the works, and a variety of displays of antique vehicles have been planned. A petting zoo and face painter will be on site for the kids along with bounce houses and a balloon twister, and everyone can enjoy the wagon and train rides. Live music supplied by Malek’s Fishermen Band will be playing, and food vendors will be on hand as well.

A festival or other community celebration may benefit from the services available at a local banner printing company. They can provide everything from period-style decorations to vendor contracts.

This celebration of Fairmont's agricultural past will be held at Heritage Acres on Sunday, August 10th. It will run from 10:00 am until 4:00 pm at 507 Lake Avenue in Fairmont.
