Many Fairmont households will be giving their home a good clean during fall, and an initiative is in place to help them dispose of their unwanted materials.
The community, and the rest of Martin County, will be running a City Wide Clean Up activity in mid-September. A long list of items can be dropped off for proper disposal, and the fee charged will depend on the materials in question.
Staff will be on hand to accept household hazardous waste, and there is a separate program in place for agricultural chemicals. Electronics and appliances may be dropped off for a fee of $15 per item, and car tires and tractor tires may also be brought, with fees depending on their size. Furniture items will also be $15 each. Fairmont City Wide coupons can be accepted provided people have them to hand when they arrive at the collection point.
Scheduling special drop-off days may be one of the tasks undertaken by a community's public works department. A poster printing company can prepare items to post in prominent locations to keep locals informed of any current special offers or other programming.
Fairmont’s next City Wide Cleanup Day will begin at 9:00 am on Saturday, September 12, continuing until 12:00 noon. The collection stations will be set up at 1200 Marcus Street in Fairmont.
