Fairmont to enjoy morning of frozen fishing

In January 2024, the Fairmont area will be enjoying some frosty fishing fun, with prizes on offer for big catches.

The Minnesota community will be the venue for an Ice Fishing Tournament, and it’s scheduled for Gomsrud Park. It will be a morning activity, and the proceeds from the entry fees and other monies raised will support area conservation efforts.

In the listing for the competition, it was explained that the fishers should bring along everything they need to land the big one with them, and the ice houses must be spaced at least 20 feet apart.

The contestants are welcome to share them if they wish, yet it was pointed out that as the tournament is meant to be a friendly contest, anyone caught cheating will be asked to leave.

The ice houses must all be licensed according to applicable state laws, and the check-in station will be located at Gomsrud Shelter.

Friendly fishing or other competitions can encourage people to get out and enjoy the great outdoors. Prizes such as fishing hats, gloves, creel baskets, and other Corporate Gifts can be fun prize ideas for a contest.

This chance to enjoy a morning of fishing, along with others who enjoy the sport, will take place at 9:00am, with weigh-in taking place at 1:00pm. The date is yet to be announced.
