Ice fishing offers a fun way to make the most of a frozen Minnesota winter, and a tournament for those who enjoy the sport is set to hit a local lake as January draws to a close.
The 8th annual Fairmont Lakes Foundation, Inc. will soon be welcoming the return of its annual ice fishing tourney, which will be marking its 8th year. There are enough spaces for 250 fishers to register, and everyone who Signs up will need to check in on the morning of the activity.
The friendly competition will kick off at Shelter house in Gomsrud Park. Everyone will be provided with a colored ribbon to tie on their hut so the organizers will know they have registered. The fishers are welcome to share an icehouse.
The day will begin with a shotgun start, and everyone can bring their catch in for weigh in at 1:00 pm at Gomsrud Park. The organizers have made it clear that anyone who does not follow the rules and regulations in place will be disqualified. Both cash and Corporate Gifts from the sponsors will be presented as prizes.
This annual excuse to hit the ice for a morning of fishing fun will be taking place on Saturday, January 28. In the event of inclement weather, it will be moved to the following Saturday, February 4.
