Staying at home alone for the first time is a rite of passage for many kids, and Fairmont families are encouraged to register their child for an activity that will help them to do it safely.
The Home Alone! Class will give kids and their parents confidence that they have the knowledge, maturity, and skills needed to be on their own after school or when their parents run an errand. It is for children in Grade 2 and up, and the learners will participate on their own.
The session will cover topics such as house rules, safe habits, and setting afterschool routines, and handling unexpected door knocks and phone calls will be included. Dog emergencies, basic first aid, what to do in severe weather, and intruders will all be addressed. Each learner should bring a pen and notebook, and they will take home information to revise with their parents or guardians
Communities that offer learning opportunities can count on marketing support from local Print shops. They can craft everything from advertising Flyers and mailers to recreation guides, and may also offer Logo Design services.
Fairmont Area Schools is set to run its Home Alone! program on Wednesday, June 11 at the Southern MN Educational Campus. It will start at 11:30 am and the registration fee for the two-hour activity is $31.
