Chanhassen gears up for a party

Chanhassen is planning to celebrate the nation’s birthday with a mega-party.

This 43rd annual celebration of July 4 includes so many activities that people will be busy for days. Among the planned events are movies, kiddie parades, a baseball clinic, and a fishing tournament.

Things start quietly with a free showing of the film “National Treasure” in City Center Park. The adventure romp stars Nicholas Cage as Benjamin Franklin Gates and is the first in the film franchise.

The second day includes the Kiddie Parade Ride Decorating event at Kiddywampus, followed by Family Night at the Carnival, a magic show, and tattoos, wacky hair, and face painting.

Also planned are the Taste of Chanhassen, the Minnesota Twins Baseball Clinic for teens, and live music with Stone Daisy. Two fishing tournaments, one for adults and the second for children, are scheduled.

The film starts things off at 9.00 pm on July 1. Decorating at Kiddywampus is July 2 from 10.00 am until 3.00 pm, and the carnival is at City Center Park from 3.00 pm until 10.00 pm. Rides vary in price. The magic show, face painting, and other activities are also in the park, with most of them free. The baseball clinic, live music, and Taste of Chanhassen are scheduled for July 3, and July 4 brings the two fishing contests.

Organizers of celebrations like this can help attendees by using flyer printing to create handouts with a schedule and locations of the various events.
