Events are planned that will make December in Chanhassen a magical time for all.
The fun starts with the official Tree Lighting Ceremony, which will take place at the Chanhassen Recreation Center. In addition to enjoying the ceremony, people attending the evening can listen to carolers, nibble on s’mores, warm themselves at bonfires, meet live reindeer, and enjoy a visit from Santa Claus himself. Special events like this can be even more fun if organizers use banner printing to create seasonal decorations.
Organizers are asking those who can do so to bring non-perishable food or make a cash donation to help the Bountiful Basket food shelf. They also want to remind everyone that the Chanhassen Recreation Center is a new location for the event, and that Santa’s Mailbox and Santa’s Workshop are also at the rec center, open until December 24.
The day of the tree lighting also marks the start of the Tour of Lights. Residents who want to participate should register, and their homes will become part of a driving tour throughout the city. An interactive map will be created to guide drivers to the participating homes, and anyone who registers will be entered in a contest with a holiday pack as the prize.
The free Tree Lighting Ceremony is scheduled for next Saturday, December 6 at 5.00 pm. The Tour of Lights also begins that day and will continue through December 31. Homeowners who want to enter the contest must register by December 6.
