The annual International Festival of Burnsville (IFB) will feature music, dance and art from cultures around the world.
Organizers of community festivals such as this often use poster printing as a way to advertise event details.
Created in 2006 to recognize and celebrate the area’s multiculturalism, next month’s festival will be held on the ancestral lands of the Dakota, emphasizing a commitment to acknowledging and supporting indigenous peoples.
The IFB will feature a full day of traditional music and dance. Stage performances will begin with a parade of flags followed by groups including Irish and Somalian dancers, a South Asian theater group, a salsa band and more.
In collaboration with the Ames Center gallery, there will be a cultural exhibit of work by local artists entitled “Art Promotes Understanding.”
Food vendors will offer snacks and meals from a range of countries and there will be an international beverage station with specialty teas, coffee and fruit drinks.
A festival highlight for children will be the kids' village where they can enjoy free activities including international crafts and games, face-painting, origami and African hair braiding. In addition, the Free Book Buggie will be on site providing each child with a complimentary book.
The International Festival of Burnsville will be held Saturday, July 18, 2026, from 3 pm to 9 pm in Nicollet Commons Park. The gallery exhibit in the adjacent Ames Center will be open on festival day until 6 pm.
