More than 30 free performances at Burnsville area fair

Next month’s annual Dakota County Fair, held in Farmington, southeast of Burnsville, will include a wide array of musical performances by bands, ensembles and individual artists. Tribute bands, dueling pianos, a string band, fiddlers and many others will take to the beer garden stages over the week-long fair.

The annual fair is very popular, with more than 300,000 people expected to pass through the gates. Visitors will not only enjoy the live entertainment, but also a full carnival, a bulls and broncs rodeo, an ATV rodeo, agriculture, arts and 4-H display buildings, kids activities and special events days.

The opening day of the fair will be Community Day, when food donations will be accepted in support of 360 Communities, an organization based in Burnsville that operates food banks in that city and throughout the county.

Presented by the non-profit Dakota County Agricultural Society (DCAS), the annual fair is hosted on the Dakota County Fairgrounds, which the DCAS has owned since 1858. The society works year-round to promote agriculture and its history through family-friendly events, educational outreach, youth programming,
