Shelby Township to host holiday tree lighting

Several holiday events and activities will be held in Shelby Township this year.

Shelby Township is partnering with the Downtown Development Authority (DDA) to host the annual Christmas Aglow and tree lighting.

This event will take place on the municipal campus of the township on Van Dyke Avenue. There will be a Christmas tree 34 feet tall that will be lit, and Santa Claus will come to town for his first visit. The tree lighting will be followed by photographs with Santa at the local library.

There will also be crafts for children at the Kris Kringle Castle, a hot chocolate stand, horse-drawn carriage rides, the roasting of marshmallows, a live reindeer, and the “Holiday Express” train display.

Christmas Aglow will take place on Thursday November 30, beginning at 6:30pm.

The Friends of the Shelby Township Library is also holding is annual Books by the Bundle sale. This features bundles of Books wrapped in ribbon, before being placed in a box wrapped with a bow, available to give as a gift. The price is $8.00 per bundle, with all proceeds going to support the Shelby Township Library.

This special sale will run through Friday December 22, or while supplies last.

Such annual events and their fundraising efforts can be promoted during the holiday season throughout their town with poster printing.
