Shelby Township senior center to host range of events

Several unique events will be taking place at the Senior Center in Shelby Township later this month and next month.

Such events are often made known throughout a community with newsletters and other materials created by local print shops.

A representative from the Shelby Township Police Department will be talking about the activities in the community. Attendees are encouraged to participate and ask questions. This event will be on Tuesday, January 23, beginning at 10:00 am.

Linda Pletz will be sharing her journey to Denali National Park and the Arctic Circle and discussing her dramatic return to Alaska from the Arctic Circle. Cookies and coffee will be served at this event which will be on Tuesday, January 30 beginning at 1:00 pm.

The luncheon in February will celebrate the Chinese New Year with a party. The lunch will feature egg drop soup, almond chicken, rice, and a fortune cookie with Paul Ritchie providing the live entertainment. Sponsors of this event are the Macomb County Office of Senior Services, Area Agency on Aging 1B, Comfort Keepers, and StoryPoint. This will be on Thursday, February 8. Doors open at 10:30 am with lunch served at 11:00 am. Tickets are $14 per person.

The senior center requires people to become members to be able to attend all events and activities. The cost for residents of Utica and Shelby Township is $5 for the calendar year and $10 for non-residents.
