Shelby Township nature center seeks volunteers to prepare garden

Volunteers are being asked to help the Burgess-Shadbush Nature Center in Shelby Township to help prepare its Teaching Garden for the season.

People of all ages are encouraged to participate in this event, whether they can work for the entire event or for an hour tr two. On hand will be master gardeners from Michigan State University Extension to share their expertise, so this will be an ideal opportunity to learn more about gardening while also contributing to the community.

At noon on the day of the event, all volunteers will be able to enjoy a pizza and salad luncheon. Children participating in the event require adult supervision and participants should bring their own gloves and hand tools. The event is free, but all those who are looking to participate need to register to help determine the food needs.

Local Print shops can help spread the word about such events with Flyers and Posters distributed throughout a town.

The Burgess-Shadbush Nature Center works to continue the legacy of its namesake and founder, Jo Burgess, by providing activities and experiences related to nature, enabling visitors of all ages to develop and grow an appreciation and awareness for the natural world around them.

This event will take place from 9:30 a.m. to noon on Saturday, April 12 at the Burgess-Shadbush Nature Center on River Bends Drive.
