The 30th art show of the Shelby Township Fine Art Society is now on exhibit at Sweetwaters Coffee and Tea on Hayes Road.
Pete and Patti Connors and Sara Katsavrias from the Fine Art Society and Dave Grimes, owner of Sweetwaters Café collaborated to make this exhibit possible.
Katsavrias, president of the Shelby Township Fine Art Society, said that the two groups have been working together for the past five years. She added that 20 new pieces of art created by one of the members of the society are hung every two months for viewing by the public. She said that this partnership works for both sides, as Grimes has artwork displayed in the café and the Society has a place to show and sell its art.
Poster printing is often used to promote such exhibits and their benefits for the community.
Grimes has expressed pride in this relationship with the Society. He said that the artwork has helped to achieve a creative atmosphere at the café which was one of its goals when it opened in 2019. Another intention was to support local art in the community.
Founded in 2000, the Society was established to teach, promote, and encourage fine art with exhibits, workshops, monthly meetings, and demonstrations.
Nature, animals, and patterns are some of the subjects of the current exhibit which runs through Friday, October 4.
