Mixed-use project to replace Shelby Township area mall

A redevelopment project is planned for the Lakeside Mall in Sterling Heights, which is now closed. This project has been in the works for several years and may be of interest to residents of nearby Shelby Township.

Out of the Box Ventures and Lionheart Capital are behind the project. The property, which covers 100 acres, will become a more modern, open-air destination for living and shopping. There will be shops and retail outlets lining the streets, as well as residences in the form of apartment units. Office spaces, a hotel, coffee shops and restaurants, and a park will all be part of the project too.

The developers are looking to build a modern and walkable environment where all these structures can mesh. They are also planning for a park in the center of the property and trees planted throughout the development, which would be in stark contrast to the former mall.

There will be restaurants with outdoor seating. A two-floor community center will provide many recreational amenities such as fitness facilities, a swimming pool, and lending libraries. The park can be used for art, music, and other community events.

Brochure printing is often used to provide more details about such developments to attract potential retailers, restaurants, and other establishments.

Demolition will begin soon on the existing mall. Groundbreaking on the new one is expected to begin in late 2025, with an expected completion date sometime in 2035.
