Youth rescue program to be offered in Denmark area

The Junior Rescue EMS Program of Fryeburg Rescue will be returning this month and next. Young residents of nearby Denmark may be interested in such programs.

A hands-on program, it will introduce participants to the experience of emergency management services and will offer them the chance to become certified in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), First Aid, Stop the Bleed, and other life-saving measures. Participants will also develop the skills and knowledge to pursue training and/or certification as an Emergency Medical Technician or as an Emergency Medical Responder.

Members of Junior Rescue, once trained at a minimum level, will be allowed to participate in “ride-alongs” in an ambulance, where they will be able to watch licensed emergency medics doing their job and may be able to assist with providing basic care for patients. Brochure printing is one way to provide more details on such programs and their benefits.

Those interested in the program should contact Fryeburg Rescue either by phone or by filling out a form on its website ahead of the sessions. Those who register on the day of the first session will also be accepted into the program.

The Junior Rescue EMS Program will be held at the station on Bridgton Road in Fryeburg from 5:00 to 7:00 pm on Thursday, December 21 and on Thursday, January 18, 2024.
