Library holds session on new reservation system

A special event is coming to the Charlotte Hobbs Memorial Library later this month that may be of interest to residents of nearby Denmark.

Poster printing can be used to promote such informative events throughout a region.

Effective March 2026, patrons will be required to provide their personal identification number (PIN), in addition to their library card number, if they want to place holds through the online catalog. As a result, library staff will no longer be able to place holds on behalf of patrons without access to the individual's PIN.

To assist community members in adapting to this update, the library will host informational sessions designed to provide guidance on the new process. These sessions will cover essential topics, including how to set or reset a PIN, independently placing holds on materials, and utilizing key features of the online system. In addition, participants will receive an overview of accessing ebooks and e-audiobooks through the CloudLibrary platform, a digital service that enables borrowing of electronic titles for use on computers, tablets, and mobile devices.

The session is open to all patrons from surrounding areas including Denmark and will offer an opportunity to ask questions and receive hands-on assistance. Attendees are encouraged to bring their own devices if they wish to practice navigating the catalog during the session, which will be from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday January 29.
