Classes held by the Senior College will be held at the Webb’s Tavern at the Magic Lantern in Bridgton later this month and next month. Residents of nearby Denmark may be interested in taking part.
Flyer printing services may be used to promote such classes throughout a town and neighboring communities.
Jim and Amy Grant will talk about “Good Karma Yarn and Soap,” which will focus on how they started in the soapmaking and fiber-processing businesses, and how their businesses have developed over the years. Attendees will be invited to their mill for a compete tour. This session will be on Tuesday, January 31.
In February, William Janelle of Bridgton will explore and perform roots music with his cigar-box guitar. This instrument influenced many of the early musicians who played the blues. Janelle will show how to use and make a contemporary cigar box guitar, and how this instrument has changed over the past 180 years.
This will be in two sessions. The first one will be a talk and discussion on Wednesday, February 1, while the second one will be on the following Wednesday, February 8, and will be a demonstration of making a cigar box guitar, as well as a discussion on how to create a 12-bar blues song.
All sessions take place between 10:00 am and noon. Classes for the winter session are free to members.
