Solar project to fuel electricity in Fryeburg area

A solar project that will cover 94 acres has been approved by the Fryeburg Planning Board.

When completed, it will provide 17 megawatts of electricity that will power thousands of homes in the area - potentially including Denmark -with green energy.

The panels will be on a site that spans a total of 135 acres and will be accessible from south of the RV lot at the Fryeburg fairgrounds, and from Route 302. JCR LLC and Diamond Ridge LLC own the land, while Walden Renewables of New York and Boyle Associates proposed the project. Walden plans to sell the project once it is completed. The project is expected to have a duration of 40 years, but could be extended.

Flyer printing can be used to provide more details about such projects to residents of the area.

There will be two phases of construction. The first phase will provide 4.9 Megawatts and will be built during the third quarter of this year and is scheduled to take four months to complete. The second phase will provide 12 Megawatts.

The project is expected to many provide many savings for the town, including the reduction of levels of carbon dioxide. There will be $2,000 in tax revenues per megawatt and $5,000 will be donated to the community for the promotion of technical training and education.
