Fryeburg animal shelter to hold sleepover

The annual Christmas Eve sleepover will be taking place at the Harvest Hills Animal Shelter in Fryeburg this year.

Typically, a celebrity stays at the shelter all night with the animals. Toys and special treats are placed in the stockings for the animals and each cat and dog is given extra attention and love throughout the night. This is a fundraising event for the shelter that will go towards helping to keep it open in the future. As such, residents of Denmark might be interested in donating to what is the only fundraiser the shelter is holding this year.

It is hoped that $25,000 will be raised from this event as there are currently over 100 dogs and close to 400 cats at Harvest Hills, and funds are needed to care for them until they find their forever homes. Flyer printing is often used to draw attention to activities such as this one and publicize fundraising efforts.

Kayla, one of the staff members at the shelter, will be spending the night with the animals. She started at the shelter as a volunteer and is now a full-time member of the staff. According to an article from the Conway Daily Sun, her work ethic enables her to make extra efforts to work with shy cats and dogs to make them feel comfortable at the shelter.
