The Norris Bennett Memorial Scholarship Fund Fishing Derby, which is held every year, will be hosted by the Lovell’s Lion Club next month.
It will be at Pleasant Point in Center Lovell and residents of nearby Denmark who are interested in angling should consider participating.
Those who wish to participate need to register either in advance or on the day of the event at the registration table at the Pleasant Point Town Beach on Pleasant Point Road. The fee to register is $25.
Door prizes and a raffle prize will be given out to all registrants. A raffle ticket cost $25 each or five for $100. The raffle prize is a Sno-pro fishing shack that measures 6 by 10 feet. All prizes will be announced at 4:00 pm during the awards ceremony. There will be a food booth serving up breakfast sandwiches, hamburgers, hot dogs, chili, and more.
Derby proceeds will go towards scholarships of $1,000 for seniors at Fryeburg Academy. The Lions will receive any additional funds which will enable the organization to assist families in need with any unforeseen expenses. Poster printing is often used throughout a region to promote such events and their fundraising efforts.
The Derby will take place on Sunday, February 13. The kids’ casting contest will be at 11:30 am with additional prizes for those 15 years of age and younger.
