Palaver Strings and their Immigration Tour will be performing next month as part of the Welcome Home series of the Denmark Arts Center.
Welcome Home is a celebration of the immigrant communities in Maine through storytelling and music. Guest artists of Iraqi, Rwandan, and Franco-American heritage will be performing along with Palaver Strings. Everyone will share traditional music and personal stories of how their families journeyed to and settled in Maine.
The program will include Franco-American tunes arranged for solo piano and violin and strings; Burundian traditional songs arranged for voice, drums, and strings; and Iraqi folk songs arranged for oud and strings.
Palaver Strings will be at the Denmark Arts Center on Thursday, November 7 from 7:00 until 8:30 pm. Performances such as this one often turn to banner printing to promote themselves to the community.
The annual Jolly Holiday Bazaar will also be hosted at the Denmark Arts next month. Featured will be the work of local artisans and craft people along with homemade and home baked gifts. There will be hot pies delivered at 10:00 am and noon at the pie booth, offering vegan sweet and gluten-free pies in addition to traditional favorites. Santa Claus may even be making a special visit.
The Holiday Bazaar will be held from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm on Saturday, November 9.
