The Denmark Arts Center is about to get its show season underway, and is planning to host Carlos Olmeda next month.
Olmeda is an acoustic singer songwriter. His shows feature music that spans a wide spectrum of cultural and emotional genres. As a feature of his tri-culture pop, he is able to change the theme and perspective continuously throughout his shows. Performances such as this one are often made known throughout the community with poster printing.
Olmeda attributes his style to being born and raised in Puerto Rico in the 1960s, during which time he was exposed to music from around the world and was able to appreciate the diversity in the songs. He says that this has allowed him to expand beyond one genre of music.
His shows typically feature four different styles of songwriting and in two different languages. Performing with a sense of humor and heartfelt passion, he is known for his intimate performances that make viewers feel as if the songs were written especially for them and were being performed in their own living rooms.
The show will be on Saturday, June 20. Doors will open at 6:30 pm and the performance will start at 7:00 pm. Currently, the Denmark Arts Center is offering a Pay-What-You-Can option. A grant from the Norway Savings Bank and the Davis Family Foundation is partially funding the performance.
