Fryeburg Academy has joined the National Future Farmers of America Organization (FFA), making it one of the first schools in the area to start a chapter of the FFA. Students of nearby Denmark who attend this school will now have greater opportunities in the school’s agricultural program.
In a statement, the school farm manager and science instructor at Fryeburg Academy, Jennifer Solter-Jones, said that it was important to bring the FFA to the school so that students will have greater chances to get involved in agriculture education. She said that the organization provides abilities to service the community, offers new learning programs, and encourages leadership development so that its mission aligns directly with what the school does with its own agriculture program.
Local Print shops can help spread the word about such new chapters, creating Flyers and Posters that spread the word to students and their families throughout the region.
The FAA is the largest such organization in the country run by students. There are in 8,995 chapters in all 50 states, including the United States Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico, with over 850,000 members who are between the ages of 12 and 21.
Solter-Jones said this enables the organization to have many opportunities of both a local and national nature, which can enable students to travel inside the state and across the country, meet new friends, gain scholarships, and make a difference in the community.
