For those looking to take up a hobby or get more involved in their community in 2024, the Charlotte Hobbs Memorial Library on Main Street in Lovell hosts several monthly events and activities that may interest residents of nearby Denmark.
Flyer printing is one way to inform those in the area of such activities that take place on a regular basis.
One is a Writing Group open to people who engage in all types and styles of writing. Some people in the group write short stories, others write poetry or memoirs, while others spend their time on plays and novels. A different member of the group leads the group at the meetings and determines the focus of the group. The meeting begins with a writing quote to jumpstart the writing process, and then the spotlight is handed to those who wish to share what they have written with the group.
This group meets on the second and fourth Thursday of every month from 1:00 to 2:30 pm in the community room. The next meeting is Thursday, January 25.
Technology help and support are available from library volunteers. They can answer basic questions about using Zoom, logging onto a library account, using a browser, and other tasks. This activity takes place every Wednesday morning from 9:00 to 10:30 am.
Also, Martha’s Knitting Group is a collection of friendly fiber artists who work on their own projects, help others with their projects, and brainstorm ideas for new projects. This group meets in the Study Room every Wednesday from 1:00 to 3:00 pm.
