The Naples Lions Club has been named the winner of the 2024 Spirit of America award.
Any residents of nearby Denmark who may be members of the group are sure to be proud of this announcement. The civic group has been serving the community for 20 years both behind the scenes and in more public arenas. The Lions Club sponsors the student of the month, sells apple pies, and hosts the Veterans Cruise aboard the Songo River Queen II on Memorial Day by covering the cost of the cruise for every veteran who attends. The group also pays for the cost of hotel stays or necessities should members in the community lose their homes in a fire.

President Dave Garrish said the Spirit of America Foundation is a public charity that was established in 1990 in Augusta to honor volunteerism. He added that receiving this award validates the hard work in which the group has been involved over the years, showing that it has not only made a difference in the local community but on a larger scale.
