The Denmark Arts Center will present the final workshop of its summer Jazz Lecture Series next month.
The goal of the series is to explore the history of jazz by examining the basics of the Great American Songbook to Mercer and Carmichael. One song is followed during each workshop from when it was created through the instrumentalists, jazz combos and singers, and big bands who have performed their own interpretations of the song through the years.
The final workshop will be hosted by Mike Sakash who will look at the evolution of guitar in jazz. He will be accompanied by Pat Metheny, Wes Montgomery, Joe Pass, and Django Reinhardt, among others. This workshop will take place on September 4 from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m.
Events such as this one often turn to flyer printing to advertise themselves.
There will be other presentations at the Denmark Arts Center next month. Bruce Marshall will perform a solo concert, having been with the band, the Bruce Marshall Group, and The Nor’easters. He has become known throughout New England for his commanding guitar style and expressive, soulful voice. He will be performing on Saturday September 7 from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m.
The following Saturday the Center will be hosting Lynne McGhee’s one-woman show. McGhee plays Edna, an eccentric performer and artist who has a most unconventional life, in a comedic show along with her own musical performances.
