Dominique Dodge from Jackson, New Hampshire in the White Mountains, is a singer and harpist who has released a new album. Her strong ties with Cape Breton Island in Nova Scotia are highlighted in the album with old Gaelic songs from the island that also explore the relationship between traditional dance and mouth music. The album was recorded on Cape Breton at the historic Glencoe Mills Parish Hall and features lively dance tunes played and accompanied by song with skill and lift.
Dodge will be performing on Friday, August 19 at 7:00 pm.
The Portland Brass Quintet will be performing their program of “Something Old, Something New, Something Borrowed, Something Blue,” which includes pieces from Morley Calvert, Victor Ewald, and JS Bach, as well as more recent pieces by John Stevens and Kevin McKee. The Portland Brass Quintet is a staple of the central and southern Maine music scene, hosting annual concerts at the Bethel Historical Society and the Choral Art Society. The members of the quintet are active teachers of brass instruments throughout New England.
The concert will be on Sunday, August 21 at 3:00 pm.
