A special guest will speak at the Crofton Garden Club’s Spring Luncheon.
Author and international cooking instructor, Katie Barney will provide the membership with information on area flowers that can be used in specialty food dishes. She will address how to provide flowers with the right growing conditions, when to harvest blooms, and how to incorporate them into culinary arts, a few samples of which may be tasted. Non-edible flowers that can be used for dyes, perfumes, and medicinal purposes will also be discussed.
The Crofton Village Garden Club began in 1969 and exists to present local activities and projects that increase interest in horticulture, floral design and conservation. The non-profit group welcomes new members.
The club gathers regularly to share gardening stories, skills, and experiences while working on community projects. Recently, members replaced a number of diseased local cherry trees and also undertook planting of the Crofton Rain Garden. Other worthy club programs include presenting horticulture therapy at an area rehabilitation center and providing fresh flower bouquets for hospice patients.
The club’s special spring luncheon will begin with the installation of new board officers, followed by a meal and the guest lecturer. Organizations who host events such as this often turn to Stationery printers for their business meeting materials.
The garden club event is Wednesday, March 5 at the Walden Country Club in Crofton, beginning at 11:00 am.
