New pizzeria opens in Bethesda
A new pizzeria has opened in Bethesda, in the popular Bethesda Row, a mixed-use development.
Matchbox, the popular chain of pizza restaurants based in the District of Columbia, recently opened its Bethesda location on Woodmont Avenue. The eatery offers 5,750 square feet, and can seat 180 patrons indoors, and another 32 on an outdoor patio.
The Matchbox Food Group is managed by Thompson Hospitality, which began managing the chain in 2018. Thompson's chairman and president, Warren Thompson, said he was happy to open in such a prime location in a community as vibrant as Bethesda. He added that even as Matchbox expands the chain as a whole, it will continue to build smaller facilities focused on the local neighborhood, each one averaging about 5,000 square feet. He also noted that Matchbox is not fancy, but a come-as-you-are pizza place where everyone is welcome.
The restaurant has become known for its signature appetizers, such as shrimp and grits, and mini burgers. Other menu items include thin-crust, wood-fired pizzas, fresh salads, entrees such as pasta and meatballs, and the bistro burger, and beers from local brewers. Matchbox uses fresh ingredients they source from local partners to create a unique selection of signature cocktails, wines, and craft beers that are not available anywhere else.
Promotional products are often a good choice in situations like this, when distributing them can help build brand recognition.
