Worcester to hold convention for young people

A Youth Convention will be held by the Youth Council from the city of Worcester next week. Set up for those from 12 to 24 years of age, the convention is designed for networking and to build leadership skills.

Those who attend will learn about important issues that affect young people in Worcester and will be able to share their ideas with officials from the city. There will also be arts and crafts, games, and food. After the convention there will be an after-party, which attendees are encouraged to attend as they can learn more about youth advocacy.

Local print shops can help promote such events with targeted mailers to young people and their families.

Eric D. Batista, city manager, said that this is an excellent opportunity for young people to get involved in the city and advocate for their peers. He added that getting youth involved and engaged is crucial to ensuring that future generations become strong leaders who help the city grow in the right direction.

The convention is free for all those who want to attend, but registering for the event is required.

The Youth Convention will be held at Doherty Memorial High School on Highland Street on Thursday, April 24 from 11:30 am to 4:30 pm. The after-party will take place from 4:30 pm to 6:00 pm.
