Worcester receives funds for career education enhancements

A grant in the amount of $3.75m has been awarded to Worcester Technical High School from a career technical education (CTE) state program. These funds will go towards the Plumbing and Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC) programs at the school.

The funds will be used by the school to modernize equipment and facilities with upgraded lab spaces for HVAC programs. The focus will be on installing digital control technology and high-efficiency systems. The curriculum will be aligned with future needs to ensure students have training in sustainable construction practices, energy efficiency, and green energy for years to come. Capacity will also be increased so that more adult and high school students can be served to increase the number of credentialed workers entering the local workforce.

News of such funding and its benefits for students and the workforce can be disseminated throughout a community with brochure and flyer printing.

Brian E. Allen, superintendent of the Worcester Public Schools, expressed his gratitude for this investment. Principal of Worcester Technical High School, Drew Weymouth, went on to acknowledge the recognition of the potential that students at the school have. He added that curricula and facilities need to evolve so that students in the future will have the skills they need to meet the needs of industries, which are changing at a fast pace.
