What's Happening in Worcester, MA…

Worcester recognised as business-friendly

Worcester is a great place for small businesses to operate, according to a recent survey by Thumbtack, a website and app that connects professionals with those who need their help with projects.

Thumbtack recently completed its “2017 Small Business Friendliness Survey,” which it says is the biggest continuous study in the nation of the way small businesses perceive government. It grades communities on what businesses say about how easy it is for them to deal with their local officials, and whether or not they make it easy for a small business to start, grow, and operate.

During its survey, Thumbtack gathered information from over 13,000 owners of small businesses. They were located in all 50 states, and 80 cities.

This year, Worcester came in second of the 80 cities, which gave it an A+ grade for its overall friendliness to small businesses. This is a 15% better score than the city received in 2016.

The city supports small businesses through its Executive Office of Economic Development, which offers them a number of programs. These include financial and technical assistance, a grant program for small businesses, and assistance in finding a site to establish a new business.

Information like this is important to many people, so officials might consider working with a brochure printing company to create a booklet that lists all the programs available in one place.
