Virtual 5K to support Navy SEALs

The city of Worcester will be taking part in the inaugural SEAL Future Foundation (SFF) virtual 5K next month.

The SFF is hosting this event to support its Warrior Health Program and in remembrance of 9/11. A grant from the L.M. Newman Family Foundation is helping to make the race possible.

The mission of the SFF is to provide a foundation for Navy SEALs that supports their education, careers, and well-being to enable them to continue their service to the community.

The race will be live and will be led by a former Navy SEAL and running coach from the Leadership Team of the SFF. Runners will use an app on their phones, Charge Running, which will connect them with other veteran SEALs, supporters, and runners across the country.

Participants can run alone or as part of a team on a sidewalk or treadmill, and they can select their own route. Proceeds from the event will benefit transitioning and former SEALs who have experienced mental and physical injuries due to the many years of their training and missions.

The fundraising efforts of such events are often promoted through poster printing.

Prizes awarded will be the Largest Family to Run, Top Team Fundraiser, Top Individual Fundraiser, and Individual Fundraiser. The event will be held on Saturday, September 12, commencing at 10:00am.
