Worcester Regional Airport has announced that air travel has fully returned to the airport. In the fiscal year 2023, there were over 193,000 passengers per day.
The Worcester Regional Airport is the second largest airport in Massachusetts and was closed for over 10 months in 2020. Since it reopened, activity at the airport has increased from 426 passengers per day in February 2022 with March 2023 being the busiest month with 493 passengers per day.
Samantha Decker, MassPort Assistant Director of Media Relations, said that the three major airlines at the airport—American Airlines, JetBlue, and Delta Airlines—have all returned to the airport after their flights were suspended in 2020. Decker added that the three airlines have direct flights to Florida and New York, have connecting flights to many other destinations across the United States and around the world, and are operating larger aircraft.
There are four daily flights at the airport with service to both JFK and LaGuardia Airports in New York City and flights to both Orlando and Fort Lauderdale, Florida. More details about costs and schedules for such flights are often provided with brochure printing.
Plans for the future of the airport include the addition of the destination of Fort Myers by JetBlue in January 2024 and a project to cost $18 million to rehabilitate Runway 29, which is part of a three-year plan by MassPort.
