Retirement community to expand in Worcester
The Salisbury Hill housing development, set up for people 55 years of age and older in Worcester, will be expanding thanks to the approval of the Worcester Planning Board.
Salisbury Hill currently has 84 condominium units. The plan is to build an additional 117 housing units, 17 of which will be single-family condominium units with the others to be duplexes. The plan will also add several new amenities on site and enhance existing ones.
A project engineer with Bohler Engineering, John Cusack, said that with more duplexes that will be clustered closer together the buildings will be smaller allowing for more green space to be provided. The added amenities, he said, will be in an interior island and next to clubhouse already onsite. Brochure printing is often used to provide more details about such plans to attract potential residents.
Cusack added that the clubhouse will have a patio built off the rear deck, used as a community gathering space. An outdoor group fitness area, two horseshoe pits, a bocce court and a pickleball court, and walking trails will also be created, as well as several other spaces and amenities for residents. There will now be 20,000 square feet of new areas for amenities.
Residents will also be afforded cleaning and other personal services on request. The Jewish Healthcare Center nearby will become the service provider for the development.
