Coordinator Ruth Kaminski was there when the organization got going back in 1991. One of the initial aims was to help the community abide by the terms of the Massachusetts Solid Waste Act.

However, the center was also focused on reducing the burden that waste management imposed on taxpayers. Kaminski has revealed that the financial aspect of the center interested her from the beginning. At the next anniversary of the center, residents who are aware of the savings made could contact banner printing in Worcester for a celebration.

Kevin Mizikar, who works for the administration of Leicester, has told the Worcester Telegram & Gazette:

“It's a true grass-roots organization and it has been that way since Day One, when it was founded at the closure of the landfill to help mitigate costs for residents. It has more than achieved that goal.”

The volunteers who work at the recycling facility number about 40. Several of them have helped the cause for two decades.

People with health conditions and those suffering with addiction have all helped out at the center. As a result of the hard work, donations to various groups have made. For example, veterans and victims of fire have gained as a consequence of the recycling effort.
