Police chief appointed in Worcester

Paul B. Saucier has been appointed as Police Chief of the Worcester Police Department (WPD). He is currently the Interim Police Chief.

When important appointments like this are made, there is often a need for business card printing services.

Eric D. Batista, city manager, said that Saucier has gone above and beyond improving the WPD since he was appointed as Interim Police Chief and has built a strong relationship between the community of Worcester and the department. Batista added that he has embraced change and been open to feedback so that he is pleased to make this permanent appointment as Police Chief.

Saucier said that it has been a privilege to lead the women and men of the WPD and expressed his excitement about continuing to foster a culture based on integrity, honor, and professionalism.

Prior to serving as Interim Police Chief for the past year and a half, Saucier spent 30 years in the department. He was deputy Chief for eight years and as a caption, he was commander of the Bureau of Investigative Services, the S.W.A.T. Team, and the Operations Division.

In addition to a master’s degree from Western New England University in criminal justice administration, he has completed executive education at the Massachusetts Police Leadership Institute and the John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University and has graduated from many significant and relevant programs from the FBI and the United States department of Justice.

At 4:30 p.m. on Friday March 14 there will be a promotion ceremony at City Hall.
