Major building projects to take place at Worcester college

The Facilities Office of Worcester Polytechnic Institute is planning some major renovations this summer.

Banner printing can be used at the locations of such projects to inform the campus community of any work being done.

The largest project is Stratton Hall, which will be completely overhauled. Work to be done will include upgrading the windows, roof, lighting, HVAC, and insulation to make the building more energy efficient. There will be new restrooms and classrooms in the building. In addition, to enable the building to be compliant with ADA standards, an enclosed connection to the neighboring Laurie A. Leshin Global Project Center will be built, along with an elevator and stairwell accessible via either building.

The faculty and classrooms for the mathematical sciences department within the building have been moved to temporary locations until the beginning of Fall 2024, which is the expected completion date of the project.

Another project on campus is the construction of additional laboratory space and reconfiguration of some such existing spaces at the Washburn Shops and 15 Sagamore Road. This project is expected to be completed this fall.

Many of the main campus buildings will have upgrades to lighting fixtures, window replacements, updates or replacement of HVAC systems, and placing and repairing roofs to improve the overall energy efficiency of the campus.
