Long range plan for city revealed to the public in Worcester
The Worcester Now - Next Citywide Long-Range Plan is now available for residents of Worcester to review in draft mode.
There are six items in the plan that need to be implemented in the next three to five years, and include a complete overhaul of the zoning regulations in the city.
The focus of the plan is on a framework for growth centered on values that will benefit all members of the community of Worcester, sustained and equitable public investment in the neighborhoods of Worcester, and a more accessible and connected city for everyone.
Eric D. Batista, city manager, said that this plan outlines the shared vision for the city of Worcester through 2040. He expressed his gratitude to the members of the community who were involved in the process and shared their input that will shape the next chapter of the city.
There is now a public comment period of one month, so that members of the Worcester community can review the contents of the Draft Plan and offer their feedback. Flyer printing is often used to provide highlights of such plans for review by the community.
Once the comment period has concluded, the comments made will be reviewed by the planning team, which will revise the plan before it is finalized and adopted by the Planning Board later this winter.
