Flagship Ventures extends fellowship program
A Cambridge-based enterprise has opted to increase the number of fellowships it has to offer post-graduate and graduate students.
The venture capital business in question has concrete plans to expand its provision of places during the fall. Any startups that emerge from the initiative may take the opportunity of using digital business cards from Worcester. Participants in the program will be able to spend 12 weeks within VentureLabs and they will be given the chance to work with experienced entrepreneurs, academics and scientists.
In the past, use of VentureLabs has led to the creation of several organizations. Seres Therapeutics and Moderna Therapeutics are two of the area outfits that have already emerged from the program. Noubar Afeyan, the chief executive of Flagship Ventures, has said:
Dr. Afeyan has stressed that the goal of VentureLabs is to provide an environment in which disruptive startups can begin to thrive. He has indicated that 16 individuals are involved in the summer cohort.
Currently, fellows have been attracted by the program from a diversity of places around the globe. Successful applications have come from Harvard University, Dartmouth College, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and John Hopkins University. Flagship Ventures was founded back in 2000 with a focus on unmet requirements in areas such as healthcare.
