The Worcester Art Museum is hosting an exhibit of the works of Norman Rockwell, beginning this November.
This exhibition takes place around a large format drawing called ‘Study for "The Nightwatchman’, created in 1962 by Rockwell and recently acquired from the Higgins Armory Museum before forming part of the John Woodman Higgins Collection of the museum. The finished artwork appeared on the cover of the November 3, 1962 issue of the Saturday Evening Post. Several letters that Rockwell wrote about this and other works, and the techniques he used, will be on show too.
To introduce it, the Master Series 3rd Thursday talk in November will be ‘American Mirror: the Life and Art of Norman Rockwell’, hosted by Deborah Solomon.
Rockwell is a popular artist and no doubt many in the Worcester area will want to see this exhibition. This might include people working for printing companies or graphics designers, who are always interested in how other creative people work.
The Rockwell exhibition will be showing at the Worcester Art Museum from November 5 until February 8, 2015. The museum is open Wednesday through Sunday. Ticket prices are $14, $12 for seniors and students, and $6 for those between the ages of 4 and 17. To find out more about the exhibit, or other upcoming events at the museum, call 508-799-4406.
