Downtown Worcester now has beer garden
The Brew Beer Garden opened its doors recently in downtown Worcester, and was acclaimed as an asset to the city, and a place that could bring the community together, according to an article in the Worcester Telegram Gazette.
The Brew Beer Garden has both indoor and outdoor spaces for its patrons to gather. Edward M. Augustus, Jr., the city manager, said the beer garden’s opening was an “exciting day for downtown.” The Worcester Regional Chamber of Commerce’s president and CEO, Timothy P. Murray agreed, calling the occasion an important step in creating a “really phenomenal district.” New businesses like this have an opportunity to create a new logo design to reflect their products and services.
Augustus said venues like the beer garden help to inspire a feeling of community, since they provide a space where people can stop after work, or visit on a weekend. They might choose to stop in before or after going to a ballgame, or attending a performance at the Hanover Theatre. The beer garden will also be a gathering spot for people who will be going to the comedy club that is being developed, or for those who have been to a show at the Black Box Theatre.
The opening celebration focused on the patio, but the bar inside was open as well. Décor in the venue includes copies of newspaper headlines including one dated April 13, 1912: “Titanic Rams Iceberg.”
