City officials present plan for healthier Worcester

Worcester has set an ambitious goal for itself: it wants to become the healthiest city, and the healthiest region, in all of New England.

According to an article on Worcester's Telegram.com website, city and public health officials made a presentation about the issue at meeting June 21, 2016. More than 100 people attended to hear about the 2016 Greater Worcester Community Health Improvement Plan (CHIP).

Officials said the plan was “essential a road map” that would enable the community to reach its goal of becoming the healthiest region and city in New England by the year 2020. The 2016 CHIP plan is an updated and expanded version of a similar effort created in 2012, as well as a community health assessment performed last year.

Edward Augustus, Worcester's City manager, said about 85% of the recommended strategies recommended in the earlier plan have already been put in place. The new plan looked back at the earlier ones and asked health care providers and members of the community what Worcester would look like to them if it were the healthiest city in the region. There were a number of answers, but the overall goal is to achieve equity in health among all members of the community.

Projects such as these can benefit from a flyer printing company that can design material to disseminate this type of information to all members of a particular community.
