Autistic pupils get a new schooling option
The Center for Applied Behavioral Instruction (CABI) has recently opened in Worcester, providing autistic young people with an opportunity to make progress.
Worcester School Committee gave the CABI the green light at a meeting back in November. Since the unanimous decision in favor of the scheme, more than a few referrals have been made to the center in question.
Young residents of Worcester can attend the facility, but some individuals from adjacent parts of Massachusetts will also have the right to go there. If the CABI wants to attract more applicants in the future, its staff could use a printing company in Worcester.
Jeffrey Robinson and Brian Doyle founded the institution together. Both of them have relevant qualifications for the work ahead.
Robinson told the Telegram & Gazette:
Robinson has said that he wants the center to be self-sufficient within 12 months. A maximum of 29 students will be able to use the place.
Doyle has stated that new students will be tested in order to pinpoint individual learning needs. However, he has confirmed that the school will respect the state curriculum. In addition, he has stressed that elder pupils will receive vocational education.

“Many of these students have very challenging behaviors, and often there is a co-morbid psychiatric issue as well, so they need a more intense program. And most of the big name schools that offer programs like ours are full.”
