The 250th birthday of the United States Navy will be celebrated by the Veterans Services of the city of Quincy and Mayor Thomas P. Koch later this month. The ceremony will be held at Navy Park in Marina Bay.
The ceremony will begin at 10:00 a.m. There will be remarks by LCDR Alicia Ping, Partnership and Civic Engagement Liaison for National Parks Services, who will talk about the naval history of the country as well as by Robert Damon, the Historic Heritage Director of the city. There will be a performance by the Jack Tar Brass Band of the Navy Band Northeast.
Mayor Koch said that marking the 250th birthday of the Navy in Quincy honors the generations of women and men whose sacrifice and service have safeguarded the freedom in this country as well as the legacy of the Navy.
This ceremony will be held on Friday October 10. Refreshments and cake will be served after the ceremony.
Adams National Park will also be hosting special activities and programs commemorating the 250th birthday of the United States Navy and the role of John Adams in the creation of the US Navy from Friday October 10 through Sunday October 12.
Such special programs and events are often promoted throughout a city with flyer printing to offer more information on times and details.
